Stroll along the ramparts overlooking the gardens of the Château de l’Hermine
Your visit begins with the medieval ramparts and flower gardens. These emblematic ancient fortifications are an integral part of Vannes’ historical and cultural heritage. You can also admire the château de l’Hermine opposite a formal garden.
For a more detailed look, take advantage of the guided tours organized by the Vannes Tourist Office. You’ll discover the most secret parts of the fortifications, such as the Prison Gate, the Joliette curtain wall, the Connétable Tower and the Gréguennic Bastion.
Time to stroll along the port and quays of Vannes
As you leave the historic center, go through the Porte St Vincent and arrive at the entrance to the port, on Place Gambetta, where you can enjoy an ice cream or soak up the sun on a café terrace. Stroll around the port on the Promenade de la Rabine (right bank), enjoying the view of the boats alongside and the architecture of the old buildings. Continue your stroll along the Promenade de la Rabine, which runs alongside the channel.
On the coastal paths of the Conleau peninsula
To the south of the town, the Conleau peninsula offers a peaceful, natural setting just a stone’s throw from Vannes.
You can enjoy its small beach and seawater swimming pool, ideal for children, or enjoy a meal in an authentic setting. Follow the GR34 for a beautiful walk along the Gulf of Morbihan. Take the Petit Passeur to Séné.
